That permatex you used is great on flat surfaces, flanges, exhaust *****, probably the best. For threads, it's useless. I've tried it in my youth with air lines..most likley thinking the same as you were.

You'll skin this cat, one way or the other.

Yeah, if you used the Permatex Ultra Copper, that's more of an exhaust gasket sealer. I've never seen it used to retain liquid.

Good luck with it, hope it works. Only reason it wouldn't is because your not dealing with a tapered thread chamber. It's a straight thread chamber. It's worth a shot though.

Yeah, it may not work. I briefly poked around on some Chrysler forums and most of them are using various types of RTV. I did see some PTFE tape mentioned though. Hell, it might be just fine putting PTFE tape on a regular length bolt and using that. In fact, that just might be even better. I know that the teflon tape most definitely works at holding header bolts in.

I don't know about gas tape for fluid, it's for low pressure gas, but it might work.
If you want to better PTFE tape. You would jump up to Loctite 567. If you use it w/Loctite 7471 Primer it'll cure quicker.

That's what I use, NEVER had a leak.
