The best intake mod for cheap you can do to these trucks is the GOTTs mod. What you did was create a way for hot air in the engine bay to find its way into the engine. Nothing cold about it. The stock intake system gets air from the fender, the outside of the vehicle. What the GOTTs mod does is make that opening bigger.
Long story short, you didn't do anything to enhance the performance, in fact if anything you probably lost performance. You can look up the science behind a CAI and you'll find out they don't work at all.

Before you go causing problems, watch this video. You are much better just doing the Gotts mod to your factory set-up, and using a Motorcraft filter.
