I am new to the rim buying experience. I have a 2014 Fx4 super crew 3.5 eco.
I am looking for a wider stance but not the skateboard look and not so wide I cant go through a car wash. Yet I want a wider stance. I have spent weeks researching, watching videos, and whatever else trying to figure out what offset to buy. I have an understanding of offset now after a hundred videos. You can see in the picture what I have now. Stock 18"s. I am doing a 2" level. My kit came yesterday. I plan on keeping the same size tires (right now anyway). My overly large wheel days are over.
Anyway, any recommendations are welcomed. Some guidance from all you salty F150 owners would be awesome. This is my first. I know in my head the look I am going for its just figuring out what to get to accomplish it has me stumped!!!! I am trying not to spend a thousand dollars on rims only to have to send them back because they aren't what I was looking for.
Thanks guys/gals and once again please excuse such a rookie question.
A 9in wide wheel with a +18 offset will set the tire flush with the fenders. A 9in wide with a 0 or -12 would get you a little more aggressive stance. I have a set of 20x9's with a +18 offset and a set of 20x10's with a -19 offset. The 10's will definitely not fit through a carwash. 20x9 20x10
Not necessarily true. Mine fits through a lot of car washes at least the 3 I go to it does without any issues. I run 20x10 with a -24 offset for reference. I work in the rim/tire business have been running a shop for 13 years now. I've tried just about every combination on most trucks over the years but sometimes I get surprised when something works and I don't think it's gonna. Anyway as a few have posted a 18x9 or 20x9 with something in the +12 to +18 range will get you about a 1/4 outside the fender which looks even with it. don't go anymore than 0 or you'll be trimming quite a bit depending on what size tire you go up to. Stock size or close should fit on a 9" at 0 without any issues rubbing

9" wide with +18 offset will put you just about flush to maybe a hair outside of your fx4 fenders. My xlt 4x4 without the fx4 plastic pieces stick out about an inch.
Your truck will look funny with a 2" level and wider wheels with those stock size tires. Go with a 275/70-18 for something slightly bigger, but not too big.
I have a sterling grey FX4 w/ 18s too and I also have been deciding for over a month now on what I want to do. Was thinking +20 offset on 20x9, then +14, now I'm thinking 0 offset with Lund SX flares (thanks rnlcomp!) w/ mudflaps on either 295/60r20 or 305/55r20 mud tires. I wouldn't recommend the stock tire size on a level, doesn't fit the gap enough IMO. But you will see for yourself once you level it and have the stock tires.
But if you aren't getting larger tires, stay closer to a positive offset. Stock size wheels pushed out looks silly to me, and will probably give you a skating look!

I'm running 17x9 with a -6 offset with 35/12.50/17 BFG KM2 it only rubs slights when turning while hitting a pretty good bump on the back of the front wheel lip. The shop that put them on has been in business over 50 years(father and son) couldn't believe they fit. I'm running an Icon stage 2 kit at about 2.5"
